About this trip

Beyond the Barley is more than a whisky tour—it's an unforgettable journey into the heart of Scotland's culture, where spectacular landscapes, legendary distilleries, and the country's rich musical traditions come together. Over ten incredible days, you'll travel from the shores of the Firth of Clyde to the whisky island of Islay, through the dramatic Highlands, and back to the historic streets of Edinburgh. Along the way, you'll experience Scotland's breathtaking scenery, discover ancient castles and prehistoric landscapes, cross sparkling seas by ferry, and visit charming villages that showcase the country's warmth and character.

Whisky lovers will enjoy exclusive visits to some of Scotland's most celebrated distilleries, including Ardgowan, Bunnahabhain, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, and the innovative Port of Leith Distillery. From heavily peated Islay malts to elegant Highland drams—and even the chance to sample The Botanist Gin—you'll gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind Scotland's national drink. But Beyond the Barley is about far more than what's in the glass. Throughout the tour you'll enjoy intimate concerts with outstanding local musicians, sharing songs and stories in authentic Scottish settings that bring each destination to life.

Whether you're standing on the windswept shores of Machir Bay, wandering through the ancient monuments of Kilmartin Glen, admiring the majesty of Glencoe, or raising a final toast overlooking Edinburgh's waterfront, every day offers a new connection to Scotland's history, people, and traditions. Beyond the Barley is designed for curious travellers who want to experience the real Scotland—one dram, one tune, and one unforgettable adventure at a time.
