The coordination of the trip was top notch. From the pre-trip communication to the two different location tour guides- we were never left wondering what to expect. The local tour guides were phenomenal in their historical knowledge and patience with a large group.- we enjoyed learning the history and legends of Scotland. Our second tour guide for the highlands was not only tour guide, but expert bus driver and DJ! She had the timinng of songs and sites with legend and lore timed perfectly to accentuate an immersive experience.

We were very pleased with Alexis and her team at Scottish Folk Tours. They prepped us well for our upcoming trip, answering questions and giving helpful tips. The itinerary was well planned and executed! Naomi was our tour guide in Edinburgh and she's smart and funny and down to earth. She patiently and with good humor talked us through each day's schedule and then proceeded to regale us with historical facts and stories without missing a beat. We did plenty of walking throughout the city and were left with much appreciation for Scottish history and enough curiosity to learn more! Next, we boarded the tour bus with our new guide, Gail. As tough as it was to leave Naomi, Gail proved herself to be just as lovely, knowledgeable, and fun loving. Not only was she a superb bus driver, but her gift for storytelling was delightful. As we meandered throughout the lowlands and entered the highlands of Scotland, Gail was either our DJ or our storyteller depending on where we were. She had extensive daily song lists which added an unexpected and much loved layer to our guided tour. Our tour group of 25 was simply the best of folks! How could you go wrong with a bus load of Gin Chocolate & Bottle Rockets fans?! Beth, Shawnie, and Jen couldn't be any more special to us so it was without any hesitation that we signed up for this tour to begin with. What a treat to get to hang out with these ladies and be treated to two private concerts while enjoying this spectacular tour of Scotland! Nancy and Dan Floeter

This trip was truly delightful! Everything was very well organized, and the tour guides made the experience fabulous. Fiona in Edinburgh was amazing--so knowledgeable and experienced with a real knack for making history fun. Duncan, our bus driver/guide, was also a delight--understated humor, also a wealth of experience, and a sense of adventure. And Jackson, our musician, entertained us with his extensive talents as well as those of his Scottish friends. Hard to believe how many private concerts we had! We can't wait to go on another tour!

An Unforgettable Journey Through Scotland’s Heart and Soul I just returned from the most incredible trip to Scotland with the Scotland Folk Tour service, and I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough. This wasn’t just a tour—it felt like coming home. Our guides were absolutely exceptional. With local Music almost every night nd our wonderful Fiona who led us through Edinburgh with such passion and depth of knowledge that the city’s history truly came alive. Ben then took us through the Highlands, Inverness, Sterling, and all the way to the Isle of Skye, sharing stories and insights that transformed every ancient stone and landscape into a living piece of Scotland’s past. The experience was so much more than sightseeing. We explored castles, ancient stone circles, visited historic kirks with centuries of stories in their walls, and stood in awe at standing stones that have witnessed millennia. Every location felt carefully chosen to deepen our connection to Scottish history and culture. Traveling with my friends made it even more special, but honestly, the warmth and expertise of Fiona and Ben made us all feel like we were exploring Scotland with family. The accommodations were charming (that loch view!), and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. If you’re looking for an authentic, enriching Scottish experience that goes beyond the typical tourist route, this is it. First-rate in every way.

The borders tour with Passerine was amazing. Fiona, our first guide in Stirling was fun and energetic. She is so knowledgeable about the area and willing to explain anything! We were impressed with all accommodations and would recommend them to anyone visiting those towns. Gail! We had so much fun with Gail. She is an excellent navigator and driver and is quick to change plans when needed. Her music taste is impeccable. Gail was very entertaining, obviously knows Scotland, and enjoys her work. Passerine! A fantastic show of talent and class. Their shows were engaging and the late night jams were a nice end to the day. They made the guests feel welcome. The local talent at each stop were all great representations of the varied layers of folk music of each region visited. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this adventure.
