Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival Day

Arrival to Edinburgh

Welcome to Edinburgh, Scotlands staggering and stunning capital!

We will provide detailed instructions and options on how to get to the hotel from the airport. As passengers arrive at different times, everyone can make their own way to the city centre hotel, check in, get settled and unwind until the welcome dinner. Relax, or take this moment to acquaint yourself with the nearby shops, cafes and pubs.

Accommodation check-in - Frederick House Hotel

Welcome Dinner and Music - The Outsider

Bruce will meet you in the hotel lobby and will walk you all to a nearby restaurant, where you will enjoy your first meal as a group. The Outsider is in the heart of the old town and is a great space with spectacular views across Edinburgh. It has incredible locally sourced ingredients and tries to source everything as close to Edinburgh as possible.

Take this as a great opportunity to try some traditional Scottish haggis, local ales and craft lagers. This will be a relaxed moment for us to be properly introduced and for Bruce to discuss the plan for the coming days on the tour.

After some food, if you feel like staying out longer, we will wander through the Old Town to a cosy pub and enjoy some live music.

Wonderful! Perfect mix of music, history, and beauty. And great people to travel with.

Fascinating introductions to Scottish music, culture, and environs! Recommendations for future trips would be someone to discuss in more detail the history of Scottish music and instruments, and a couple hour course on basic Gaelic, with Gaelic spelling, pronunciation of Gaelic words, and common Gaelic phrases. Glad to be introduced to Scotland’s National Park System and hope to track their progress in restoring more sensitive habitats!

We had a good time - some of the folks did not gel but there was a real camaraderie among a few of us. Some of the hotels left a lot to be desired - balms sea is out in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it - and the hotel in Inverness was not great. It felt like a monastic room! The shower had a stuck door which would only allow a small person through. I am not that small. I loved the Frederick house hotel and the place we stayed in stirling / really nice!!! If I was queen for a day -I would have liked somewhere other than Inverness - there was not much to do there except shop. I enjoyed having things to see rather than just places to spend money. Fiona was fantastic! Loved the time we spent with her and enjoyed Ben, too. He did a good job and was a great (fast😱) driver! Both were full of so much information!! Amazing!!
